∑       Tendulkar is exploring complex social problems in this play, the moral complexities of modern life compounded by class and gender inequalities. Tendulkarís fearlessness and his honesty as an artist and playwright underpins his shock and shame, and the audience share in this experience of shame and shock at the deterioration of moral standards in modern life--the dubious moral and ethical practices of journalism and politics,  the ongoing oppression of women and the poor, all so prevalent in contemporary society that we have come to accept it all as normal and inevitable. Kamla brings forth a question for everyone: Does the art lie in presenting the case or in the case itself?
